Let Your Light Shine
As christians we are called to be "salt" and "light" to a world that is living in darkness. I believe that we are all called to be missionaries whether we are traveling across the country or across our own street. If you are a christian, it is your job to spread the good news. Our lives should be reflecting the love of God to others. People should notice that we have something that they don't and draw near to us searching for the Truth. Sadly, most of us do not even know ouir next door neighbors! I don't think we should be knocking on doors with a Bible in hand telling someone they need to find Jesus or else, but we need to make an effort to get to know the needs of our neighbors. When is the last time you served someone. It's easy to serve in the church where we get recognition and we are seen. It's something else to serve a stranger without anyone ever knowing. Bake some cookies, lend a hand, share your possessions. By doing this you are planting a seed for the gospel to be shared. You are building the trust of a stranger. Don't just lock your doors and be content within your own four walls. Make a difference in someone's life. Let your light shine before all men.
Matthew 5:14-16 (New International Version)
14"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
