We Need Revival . . .
•when we do not love Him as we once did.
•when earthly interests and occupations are more important to us than eternal ones
•when we would rather watch TV and read secular books and magazines than read the Bible and pray.
•when church dinners are better attended than prayer meetings.
•when concerts draw bigger crowds than prayer meetings.
•when we have little or no desire for prayer.
•when we would rather make money than give money.
• when we put people into leadership positions in our churches who do not meet scriptural qualifications.
• when our Christianity is joyless and passionless.
• when we know truth in our heads that we are not practicing in our lives.
• when we make little effort to witness to the lost.
• when we have time for sports, recreation, and entertainment, but not for Bible study and prayer.
• when we do not tremble at the Word of God.
• when preaching lacks conviction, confrontation, and divine fire and anointing.
• when we seldom think thoughts of eternity.
• when God's people are more concerned about their jobs and their careers than about the Kingdom of Christ and the salvation of the lost.
• when God's people get together with other believers and the conversation is primarily about the news, weather, and sports, rather than the Lord.
• when church services are predictable and "business as usual."
• when believers can be at odds with each other and not feel compelled to pursue reconciliation.
• when Christian husbands and wives are not praying together.
• when our marriages are co-existing rather than full of the love of Christ.
• when our children are growing up to adopt worldly values, secular philosophies, and ungodly lifestyles.
• when we are more concerned about our children's education and their athletic activities than about the condition of their souls.
• when sin in the church is pushed under the carpet.
• when known sin is not dealt with through the biblical process of discipline and restoration.
• when we tolerate "little" sins of gossip, a critical spirit, and lack of love.
• when we will watch things on television and movies that are not holy.
• when our singing is half-hearted and our worship lifeless.
• when our prayers are empty words designed to impress others.
• when our prayers lack fervency.
• when our hearts are cold and our eyes are dry.
• when we aren't seeing regular evidence of the supernatural power of God.
• when we have ceased to weep and mourn and grieve over our own sin and the sin of others.
• when we are content to live with explainable, ordinary Christianity and church services.
• when we are bored with worship.
• when people have to be entertained to be drawn to church.
• when our music and dress become patterned after the world.
• when we start fitting into and adapting to the world, rather than calling the world to adapt to God's standards of holiness.
• when we don’t long for the company and fellowship of God's people.
• when people have to be begged to give and to serve in the church.
• when our giving is measured and calculated, rather than extravagant and sacrificial. . . . when we aren't seeing lost people drawn to Jesus on a regular basis.
• when we aren't exercising faith and believing God for the impossible.
• when we are more concerned about what others think about us than what God thinks about us.
• when we are unmoved by the fact that 2.5 billion people in this world have never heard the name of Jesus.
• when we are unmoved by the thought of neighbors, business associates, and acquaintances who are lost and without Christ.
• when the lost world around us doesn't know or care that we exist.
• when we are making little or no difference in the secular world around us.
• when the fire has gone out in our hearts, our marriages, and the church.
• when we are blind to the extent of our need and don't think we need revival.

His Grace is Sufficient

My Grace is sufficient for you. 2 Corinthians 12:9
No matter what you are going through- the loss of a loved one, failing health, financial struggles, depression, addictions, marriage problems... His GRACE is always sufficient. Most days it’s the “little things” in life that I need his Grace for such as making it through the day with little sleep, caring for 3 highly energetic children, submitting to my husbands leadership. There are some days that I feel I so overwhelmed, but I keep telling myself “His Grace is sufficient.” It’s amazing how those 4 words can make such a huge impact in my life. As soon as I speak Truth I feel a burden lifted, peace in the midst of chaos, as I remind myself that God is in control and His grace is enough. Whatever you are going through, God has a purpose.
“It is impossible to be holy apart from suffering. There is a redemptive fruit that cannot be produced in our lives apart from suffering.”

Mother's Prayer
Last night I wrote a short poem that I thought I would share. Being a mother is the most humbling calling. I feel so unqualified to be a mother. I have so many imperfections. Doesn't my children deserve to have a perfect mother who never raises her voice, who always slows down to listen to the cares and concerns of young hearts, who is more disciplined at family devotions, who is more consistent with discipline instead of taking the easy road by ignoring or telling her children to just go play? Sometimes I feel like the only mother who fails, who messes up. I want more than anything to be the mother that God wants me to be and the mother my children deserve and need. As I'm helping my children grow, they are helping me grow. The only thing that brings me comfort and encourages me in the journey of motherhood is the fact that God works ALL things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to HIS purpose! God can work out all my character flaws, my failures, my shortcoming for His glory, for His good! That is the best news! I dont have to be perfect. It's my imperfections that make me realize I NEED the Lord... I can't live a single day of motherhood without Him. Thank-you Lord for your forgiveness, love, mercy, and wonderful GRACE!

Rest

Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Rest. Something the world considers as being lazy, idle, and unproductive. Most days I feel like I need to always be doing something, yet God says it is a good thing to rest. We all NEED those quiet times, those moments of peace where we can be alone with God and replenish our strength from Him. As Nancy Leigh Demoss says, "You have to drink of Him before you can pour out into others’ lives." So true! Whenever I neglect resting in the Lord I find myself snapping at my husband and kids and living my day feeling drained instead of replenished. I often feel like I am running on empty. Instead of running faster and trying harder I need find rest in Jesus and let Him be the satisfier of my thirsting soul!
Being a wife and mother of 3 is hard work! Alot of days I tell myself that I don't have time to rest. That I just have to much to do and that I have to keep going in order to get everything I need to get done, done. I continue living my day in my own strength and end up frustrated, tired, with nothing left to give to my family. I believe the reason so many mothers are overwhelmed with the daily duties of motherhood is because we don't begin our day with Jesus. We wake up and tackle the day on our own, in our own strength, but our strength will never be enough. We might spend our days being busy, but there is a difference in being busy and being fruitful. We cannot live a fruitful life apart from Christ. Only through abiding in Him can our lives produce fruit. How often we plan our own steps, goals, dreams, and how we spend our precious time. When was the last time you asked the Lord what HIS plans, dreams, and goals for your day was? I am speaking to myself as I'm writing this because I'm guilty in not seeking the Lord's will as I begin each day. I usually read my Bible at the end of the day before bed, but have realized that this is not what God wants for me. He wants me to BEGIN each day with Him. God's yoke is EASY and His burden is LIGHT! God wants us to find rest for our souls in HIM. We wont find true rest for our souls by reading a good book, having a break from the kids, getting the house in order, or by getting more sleep. Come to the only One who can give you the rest your soul yearns for!
Lord, as I begin each day help me to seek Your will and not live according to my own plans. Your word says that your yoke is easy and your burden is light. Help me to weed out the things in our family that do not produce fruit. Lead me to still waters and help others to see the reflection of Jesus living in me. Amen.

Be Still

Worry and faith can not coexist. Each and every day we have to make the decision to trust God that He is Who He says He is. When we try to take life into our own hands we begin to feel stress, anxiety, and worry, instead of peace, joy, and the assurance that God is in complete control of our lives. When we worry we are insulting God. When we worry we are pretty much telling God we don’t have faith in His promises, His strength, His ways, His timing, His sovereignty, His will for our lives. God not only died to save us from our sins and to give us eternal life, but he died to set us free RIGHT NOW in this life. Worry comes when we refuse to let go of our lives completely and place ourselves in the hands of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We take ourselves out of His hands the minute we let ourselves worry.
We worry about our weaknesses, health, finances, children, relationships, jobs, future, and millions of other things. There is nothing worse than worrying about something that we have absolutely no control over.
I want to share an example I read in a book the other day that really made me see how ridiculous it is for me to worry.
(Keep in mind that this book was published originally in 1870.)
Here it is:
A Day Without Faith….
Imagine yourself acting in your human relations as you do in your spiritual relations. Suppose you begin tomorrow with the notion in your head that you could not trust anybody because you had no faith. When you sat down to breakfast you would say, “I cannot eat anything on this table, for I have no faith, and I cannot believe the cook has not put poison in the coffee, or that the butcher has not sent home diseased or unhealthy meat”; so you would go away starving. When you went out to your daily avocations, you would say, “I cannot ride in the railway train, for I have no faith, and therefore I cannot trust the engineer, nor the conductor, nor the builders of the carriages, nor the managers of the road.” And you would be compelled to walk everywhere, and would grow unutterably weary in the effort, besides being actually unable to reach the places you could have reached in the train. When your friends met you with any statements, or your business agent with any accounts, you would say, “I am very sorry that I cannot believe you, but I have no faith, and never can believe anybody.” If you opened a newspaper, you would be forced to lay it down again, saying, “I really cannot believe a word this paper says, for I have no faith; I do not believe there is any such person as the Queen, for I never saw her; nor any such country as Ireland, for I was never there. I have no faith, so of course I cannot believe anything that I have not actually felt and touched myself. It is a great trial, but I cannot help it, for I have no faith. Just picture a day as this, and see how disastrous it would be to yourself, and what utter folly it would appear to anyone who should watch you through the whole of it. Realize how your friends would be insulted, and how your servants would refuse to serve you another day. And then ask yourself the question, if this want of faith in your fellow men would be so dreadful, and such utter folly, what must it be when you tell God that you have no power to trust Him, nor to believe His word; that it is a great trial, but you cannot help it, “for you have no faith.” Is it possible that you can trust your fellow men, and cannot trust your God; that you can receive the “witness of msn,” and cannot receive the “witness of God”; that you can believe man’s records, and cannot believe God’s record; that you can commit your dearest earthly interests to your weak, failing fellow creatures without a fear, are afraid to commit your spiritual interests to the Savior who laid down His life for you, and of whom is is declared the He is “able to save to the uttermost all who came unto God by Him”?

This story can also apply to the one who doesn’t believe in God because He can’t touch, see, hear, or feel Him. They say “I don’t have faith in God.” If they can’t have faith in the God of the universe than how can one have faith in anything at all???
I wonder how many believers today realize that faith is not merely believing that Christ died for our sins. Faith is also being confident that His way is better than sin. His will is more wise. His help is more sure. His promises more precious. And His reward more satisfying. Faith begins with a backward look at the cross, but it lives with a forward look at the promises. John Piper
I want to share with you several scripture that relate to God’s character, trusting Him, faith, worry, and how we can only find true peace in Him. Let go of your worries. Be still, and know that He is God.
Psalm 46:10
In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength. (Isaiah 30:15)
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31)

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us. (1 John 4: 18-19)
Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.

Before You Were Born

had a purpose for you.
You are not here by accident or mistake. You may think that your life doesn’t matter, but it does. God knit you together in the womb. He knew the day you were going to be born and He knows the day are going to die. He made you perfectly able to accomplish His will for your life. You have a purpose in this life that only YOU can fill. He knows your strengths and your weaknesses. He set you apart to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ through living a life yielded to the Holy Spirit. But we have to make a choice. You can choose to listen to the enemy who says your life doesn’t matter and that you’re not good enough, smart enough, healthy enough…. Or you can choose to listen to the loving voice of our Lord and Savior who says You can do ALL things THROUGH Christ who strengthens you. Only through Christ can we find our identity and fulfill our true purpose.

Serving The Lord With Gladness

The title of my blog is “serving the Lord with gladness”. If I was honest with you I would have to admit that my service the past year has been more grumbling than gladness. Our family has spent most of the winter being sick. We’ve had several strains of the flu, strep throat, tonsilitis, bronchitis, sinus infections, colds, ear infections, and pink eye. I’ve never seen anything like it. This year I was also diagnosed with Grave’s Disease (overactive thyroid). I see an endocrinologist on the 30th of this month. I’m hoping I can get it taken care of quickly so I can have the energy to raise my 3 children. I’m not sure if God is trying to teach me a valuable lesson or if satan is trying to destroy our home and steal my joy.
I believe it’s probably both. I do know that God always works for the good of those who love Him who are called according to His purpose. I also know that my situation in life could always be worse, a lot worse. I could be suffering from an incurable disease, cancer, or death of a child or spouse. I am blessed beyond words; way more than I ever deserve. Needless to say, illness, a colicky baby, and a toddler who still doesn’t sleep through the night has really taken a toll on my life (sanity) this past year. I truly believe in the power of prayer so I have brought all my requests to God both BIG and small. I have seen God answer prayers of mine in the past that were HUGE so when God didn’t answer my “little” prayer to help my baby to sleep through the night I was a little confused. I would politely remind God that He parted the Red Sea and raised the dead so He could easily make my daughter a better sleeper. I know this may seem silly to pray a prayer about sleep, but I’m just not a very happy homemaker when I can’t manage to get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. My daughter is now 13 months and has only slept through the night a handful of times. God has bigger plans for me than a good night’s sleep I guess and I trust Him. I believe that God is sovereign. He is in control of every circumstance, both big and small.
In the past I have gone years with the sun shining with no storms to make me want to run for shelter. But I think that’s just it. Storms make us want to run to shelter. Storms for the most part bring us closer to Christ. When my life is nothing but sunshine I sometimes start thinking that I’m doing a pretty good job raising my children and being a Godly wife. But this is pride and God hates pride. He loves us to much to ignore our pride. Almost always pride comes before a fall. Jesus Christ is the ONLY reason that anything good whatsoever comes from me. Without Him, I can try in my own strength to be “good”. I can do all the right things and appear to be a good mother, good wife, and fool myself into thinking I have it all together, but the storms will reveal our true character. Only through and in Christ can we endure storms and continue to have joy and peace. I don’t want to build my life on shifting sand, but on the solid Rock of Christ. A house built on sinking sand has no substance and will crumble as soon as the rain starts pouring down. I don’t want my joy and gladness to be based only on my circumstances because my circumstances will always change. Lord, you are my joy and my gladness. Help me to look to You instead of looking at the storms. Help me to listen to your voice and not the voice of the enemy. Help me to stand on your promises and not try to stand on my own two feet. Robe of Christ
I recently started going to a ladies Bible study on Thursday mornings by Kay Arthur about covenants and have found it absolutely amazing how much God has revealed to me in only two weeks of this study. One thing I’ve been studying in particular is about the covenant between Jonathan and David in 1 Samuel with the exchanging of robes. I believe this covenant is very symbolic to the covenant that God makes with us, His children. Here is a link to view the covenant made between Jonathan and David to fully understand this covenant.
When we receive Jesus as our savior we are to “put on Christ”. To really sit and ponder this has opened my eyes to new Truth. I’ve always known that Jesus died for my sins, but isn’t it amazing how God sometimes allows us to “rediscover” spiritually Truths in a new way that makes us feel like we did when we heard the Good News for the 1st time! To sit and think about how my Savior actually took all my sins (which were many ) upon Himself and paid the punishment for my sins. I deserved to die, to be punished, but Jesus who is Holy, blameless, without sin died so I could live. Not just live in the sense of waking up each day breathing, but to actually live each day with complete peace and assurance that I’m forgiven and accepted by a Holy and Mighty God. To actually experience a personal, intimate relationship with Him. A lot of people gladly accept God’s forgiveness because they wish to avoid hell, but sadly that’s where their journey ends and they never grow spiritually or intimately with the Lord. They refuse to step outside the boat and experience what it actually means to “put on” Christ. God not only wants to forgive us, He wants to transform us into His likeness!
I believe once we realize the fullness of God’s love, grace, and forgiveness we can’t help but praise Him, seek Him, and spend our entire life serving Him.
I used to wear a robe stained with sin and filth. Good works and self effort failed to bring me closer to God. I needed a Savior! Only through the blood of Jesus can we be made clean. Only through Jesus can we be made right with God.
His robe was white as snow, without spot or blemish. With outstretched arms He called me to come to Him and trust Him as my Lord and Savior. In doing this He took my robe of sin and shame and gave me His robe of righteousness. Thank-you Lord for your gift of salvation, for dying on the cross so I could live.

Let His Light Shine In
I’ve always been told it’s not good to dwell on my faults so I would always box them up, turn off the light, and shut the door, but the Holy Spirit is always faithful to turn the light back on and reveal the faults in my life that is keeping me from producing good fruit. It has been overwhelming at times. Issues that I would rather not deal with because of pride and denial. I mean who actually LIKES to look at their weaknesses? I would tell myself that nobody is perfect and try to move on.
We like to measure our spiritual maturity by how "good" we are, but the truth is that not one of us is "good" and if we say we are than we have no room for God’s grace. God loves us the way we are, but He refuses to keep us that way. We are to walk in holiness, but that doesn’t mean we will be without blemish. As soon as God helps me overcome one issue, another issue shows up. It can be discouraging, but I remind myself of a saying I once read in a book "your not where you need to be, but thank God you’re not where you used to be." Whenever I think I’m making no spiritual progress I just look back several years and see how much God has changed me. He still has a lot of work to do, but I know he will do it. God’s word says that "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion." When I sin the Holy Spirit is always faithful to show me the way and make my paths straight.
I want my life to produce good fruit for Christ. I want people to see me as authentic and not as a hypocrite. Why is it so hard for us to talk about our weaknesses? We find it pretty easy to talk about someone else’s weaknesses, but not our own. We usually take someone’s weakness and use it against them. God wants us to confess our weaknesses to one another, not to embarrass them but so we can encourage each other. When we isolate ourselves in our problems we make ourselves vulnerable to Satan. Satan wants us to feel that we are the only one with weaknesses and that we shouldn’t have any if we were really a TRUE follower of Christ. Satan is a liar and sometimes we actually believe his lies. Only when we face our weaknesses and shine light on them can we begin to overcome them. We are all part of the body of Christ and we all need each other!
Sometimes it is so hard to see God’s love for me. How could He possibly love ME? I guess that is the beauty of His GRACE. I have known about God’s grace since I was a child, but just knowing about grace doesn’t set me free, I need to ACCEPT it! Grace frees us from trying to earn God’s love and acceptance when it’s already ours for the taking. Someone can give you gift, but you can’t use the gift until you actually unwrap it. It’s only when you actually accept the unconditional love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, and acceptance that you actually start doing things because you LOVE God, not because you are trying to earn God’s love. (I’m still a work in progress on this one.) We already have His love. God doesn’t look at my actions, He looks at my motives behind my actions. The "why" not the "what" of what I do. Being a follower of Christ is a daily decision and sometimes for me a minute by minute decision. Our flesh has to die to self. I used to follow the lead of my feelings, but I’ve learned that my feelings can not be trusted and they often get me into trouble. I am trying to put aside my feelings and do what God’s word tells me to do even if I don’t "feel" like it. That is part of a growing relationship with Christ. We can’t grow in Christ if we our faith is never tested.
Don’t just accept your weaknesses, but don’t let your focus only be on your weakness’ either, rather keep your focus on Jesus Christ and let his Truth set you free!

Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.
