Prepare! Protect! And the herd listens.
We take seriously anything
to protect our earthly bodies that are passing away, but nothing to prepare the
soul which will stand before God Almighty on the day of judgment. How do you
respond when preachers and God’s children warn “A storm is coming!”?
A storm
that will cause hearts to fear for what they see coming upon the world, A time
that will be worse than ever in history, worse than we could ever imagine. The
signs are ever increasing and only the wise and discerning of heart see it.
There are many groups of people- Which one are you?
The Scoffer- Those who can’t
see and don’t care to. They love pleasure and money and love the pride of life
and the lust of the flesh. They have no idea that judgment is coming, that they
are going to soon meet the God they claim does not exist.
The Pretenders- Those
who see the signs ever increasing and have some knowledge of scripture, but
pretend that everything is fine. They believe everything will somehow “work out”
in the end. They keep themselves busy with work, pleasure, sports, social media,
and worldly affairs to drown out the voice of the Spirit leading them to true
repentance. They might even go to church and are sometimes very religious. They
pretend to love God, but by their actions prove otherwise. They try to be good
people, but have never been truly born again. They believe in their head, but
not with their hearts. They know God is coming to judge the world, but do not
understand the imminence or importance of seeking the Lord or preparing for such
a time. They label the ones who try to warn others as unloving or extreme. They
believe there will be time to prepare later or that they are good enough to
withstand the coming judgment. They are comfortable in this world and don’t want
anyone to wake them from their slumber.
The Warriors- The last group of people
are those whose eyes have been opened. They have experienced the overwhelming
sense of their sin and in desperation, turned to Jesus, their only savior. They
see scripture being fulfilled and are fully aware the we are getting close to
the return of Christ. They take seriously the things of God- reading God’s Word,
prayer, and gathering with other believers. They are aware that they are in a
constant battle at all times. A battle against lust, bitterness, unforgiveness,
idolatry, laziness, pride, selfish ambition, and realize the importance of
abiding in Christ daily. The Spirit is faithful to convict their heart whenever
they begin to back slide and they are sensitive to the Spirit calling them back
to repentance. They also have a constant burden they carry for their unsaved
loved ones, especially those who believe they are Christian’s but by their
fruit, they are not. They long to see Jesus face to face and to be completely
set free from the ability to ever sin again. They often feel alone even in a
crowd and are often misunderstood and labeled as judgmental, unloving,
legalistic, and bigoted. They never seem to fit in and constant conversation
about worldly affairs and pleasures no longer interest them. They know that this
life is a vapor and their choices will follow them into eternity, and live
accordingly. Which one are you?
Are you prepared for the storm of persecution
that’s coming to those who aren’t afraid to stand and speak up for Biblical
truth? If not, you can be! Ask God to give you a new heart today, a heart that
beats in tune with the Savior.
A heart that loves Jesus more than anything this
world has to offer us and a heart that longs to see others set free from the
power of sin and rebellion against God!
He will give you peace and boldness in
the storm that’s coming so that you will not be overcome with hopelessness that
many will experience as they see their idols crashing down. The best time to
prepare for a storm isn’t during, but before!
The Day of the Lord will come like
a thief in the night.
Suddenly.
When we least expect.
There will be no way of
escape.
We’ve been warned by God’s Word, faithful pastors, Christian’s, sermons
on the radio, and will be without excuse. Will you heed the warnings and be a
warrior for Christ or are you content to be a scoffer or pretender?
Will your
heart fail with fear or rejoice that you are counted worthy to escape all that
is soon coming upon a godless world? A storm is coming and you’ve been warned!
